- The arcade challenge was Taito's Ben Beroh Beh. Aristotle (not the philosopher, just one of our regular score sharks) took the day's prize.
- The store's new Atari kiosk made it's debut.
- Games and systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.

Free Comic Book Day, Saturday May 5th

The comic book industry celebrates one special day every year. "Free Comic Book Day" has been a great annual tradition that turns comic book readers on to new titles as well as turns indie comic book shops on to new customers. This year, we're taking on a limited role in this day. On Saturday, May 5th, the first hundred customers that walk into the shop can grab themselves a free Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog special edition comic, no purchase required. Customers who purchase something from the store can choose from other free comics (non videogame related) as well.

Come celebrate another great industry's very special day with us!

Montezuma's Revenge Game Designer Robert Jaeger at NAVA

We will be joined by a very special guest at NAVA this weekend, game designer Rob Jaeger. Rob is best known in our community as the man who created Montezuma's Revenge, a sprawling multi-screen, multi-platform platformer that both intrigued and tantalized a generation. His present company Normal Distribution LLC will challenge another generation with the IOS release of Montezuma's Revenge! Join us to play the original and new release of the game, check out some of the 80's promotional material that surrounded the game as well as meet the man who made it all happen. Bring your game and he will autograph it!

You can read a full interview Digital Press conducted with Rob a few years back right HERE.

Videogame History Museum Items for Sale

While exhibiting at the Penny Arcade Expo in Boston earlier this month, the boys from Videogame History Museum made a side trip to an independent collector in the area. There were a few items that will be used in the future museum but many, many more that are already accounted for. That fact equals additional product for you in your next visit to the store.

A special cart has been set up when you first walk in, and it's got lots of goodies from various platforms from Atari 2600 to Sega 32X. Stop in and check it out!

NAVA Gamer's Meeting, April 28th: "It's a Jungle Out There"

NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. This is a FREE event bringing gamers together for competition, trading, and chatter.

Previously at NAVA...
- In March's "NABA", we temporarily changed the charter of our event to board games. Dubbed "NABA" we busted out a few tables and sat around for some pre-electronic fun.
- The arcade challenge was the curious entry in the Pac-Man series called "Professor Pac-Man". Chris A walked away victorious and $20 richer.
- Hungry Hungry Hippos was the 6pm tournament game, and Mike "TonyTheTiger" was the hungriest. You can't make this stuff up.
- Games and systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.

The Store's 8th Arcade Cabinet: Donkey Kong 3

We found a guy in North Bergen who used to be an arcade distributor and mechanic but when the bottom dropped out of that industry he pretty much left everything in storage. Well, we picked out one of the gems at his facility, this Nintendo Donkey Kong 3 cabinet. It's beautiful and now stands next to the equally beautiful Spy Hunter. These two machines are much nicer than the Pepsi machine that used to be in that spot!
