Previously at NAVA...

- We celebrated the world of puzzle-based videogames.

- The arcade challenge was TETRIS (Atari). The high score winner Alejandro scored 93,787 (without continues!) earning the coveted "arcade champion" $20 gift certificate.

- The 6pm tournament was POKEMON PUZZLE LEAGUE. Brandon G was our champion, walking off with a cool $20 gift certificate.

- Gamers, collectors and friends shared their recent adventures and sold or traded their goods.

In This Month's NAVA: Can you believe our beloved Nintendo GameCube turns TWENTY FIVE YEARS old this year? Launched in Japan in September 2001 and a bit later here that November, the tiny console with its built-in handle and miniature discs was born to travel. Over its history there were a number of iconic titles including Super Smash Bros. Melee, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Luigi's Mansion and more. We celebrate this great system at NAVA this month.

Arcade Challenge: There were some old-school arcade ports and translations created on the GameCube but the real hero of the GameCube generation is Mario, so let's go back to the first Mario Bros game, titled... wait for it... MARIO BROS. In a solo game, who can knock the most bad guys off the platforms? Put up the best score on this game by 9pm and win a nifty $20 gift certificate. Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day, but please remember to let everyone get a shot. If you get the high score, move on, and no hogging the game! Also if you have won last month’s arcade challenge you are not eligible to win this month’s challenge.

6PM Tournament: What better system to have a tournament on! We have to go with the king of tournament games, SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE. We'll do a 4-on-4 in a 16-player round robin donnybrook. Who will smash all challengers on their way to becoming a NAVA champion? Sign-ups begin at 3pm, the tournament starts after 6pm in this first-come, first-served and as always at NAVA, FREE-to-join tournament. Winners receive a $20 gift certificate!

We'll help you administer sales and get you set up somewhere in the store to sell your goods, there is no charge for this perk, NAVA is the time for trading! In This Month's NAVA: We celebrate the humble puzzle game. Across every console and generation, titles like Tetris, Puyo Puyo, and Candy Crush have introduced many to gaming, and have provided the best way to relax, kill the time, or prove your mastery. So leave your swords at home, park your racecar in the garage, and grab a joystick to show your love for the tricky trials of tetrominoes at Puzzlepalooza!

Arcade Challenge: There's only one game we could possibly choose for our arcade challenge this month, and it comes all the way "From Russia with FUN"! Arguably the most famous videogame of all time, TETRIS will challenge your skill at sorting various shapes in order to clear lines. Easy to learn but impossible to master, play a round and put up the best score on this game by 9pm and win a nifty $20 gift certificate. Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day, but please remember to let everyone get a shot. If you get the high score, move on, and no hogging the game! This is a version of the classic puzzle game PANEL DE PON, which fuses its classic line-clearing action with the colorful world of Pokemon. In This Month's NAVA: Since the dawn of time, mankind has been fascinated with things that ROLL. Example: THE WHEEL. We're fascinated too. Monkey Ball, Marble Madness, Katamari, BC's Quest For Tires, Ballblazer. Everything Pinball. Everything Bowling. Where do we draw the line?! You'll have to show up to see HOW WE ROLL.

Arcade Challenge: OK, Let. It. Roll! In the arcade game CAMELTRY, your goal is to guide the ball through the maze to the exit. This is a great game, kind of an undiscovered gem and worth trying even if you're not competing. Do you have the balls... going into the goal in the shortest amount of time? - We celebrated Christmas a bit late. Christmas isn't over until we say and finally we say.

- At 6pm we held our annual "regifting" grab bag event. Many videogame toys were exchanged by various anonymous Santas.

In This Month's NAVA: What is Megalophobia? Megalophobia is defined as "an intense fear of large objects, that can cause extreme feelings of anxiety and panic attacks when anticipating or being in the presence of large objects. This can lead to the avoidance of certain situations and environments and may cause a severe decline in quality of life. LET'S EMBRACE THIS. In our version of Megalophobia, we will play games where you're a tiny character in a large world setting. Think Army Men, Micro Machines, Pikmin, Katamari Damacy, Shark Shark, etc. and you'll have the right idea. Let's PLAY BIG at this NAVA!

Arcade Challenge: On Megalophobia Day, the insects rise up! You are one such insect. Or maybe an insect-shaped craft. Regardless, everything is out to stomp you out... you are INSECTOR X. Previously at NAVA...
- In our last episode, we celebrated NAVA-TOPIA, a cornucopia of all the things we love. There was much rejoicing!
- The arcade game challenge was DOCK MAN. Chris R. got the high score of 7,020 and took home the $20 prize.
- At 6pm we hosted a SMASH BROS MELEE tournament on GameCube. The winner Brian I smashed his way through the competition and took home the $20 prize.
- Games and systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.

In This Month's NAVA: TLDR: bring an unused, unwrapped, videogame-related gift valued at $20 or more for a Secret-Santa-style exchange. Do not stop here. Read on so your gift isn't REJECTED!

As NAVA tradition dictates, and as our fore-NAVA-fathers did before us, we will have our annual gift grab! If you don’t know what a gift grab is it’s very simple: you bring a gift to the event and at 6 PM we put all the gifts together & everyone who brought one gets to pick one! So you don’t know what you’re going to get or who you’re getting it from. In the past some people have gotten such great gifts like a brand new NES Mini, a new PS Vita with multiple games and lots more great stuff. We’ve ALSO had a few not-so-great gifts like a box of scratched PS2 games, a Sony alarm clock, and random used VHS tapes. SO to prevent these “not in the spirit of NAVA” gifts we’ve established some rules that have worked well since 2015:

- All gifts to be submitted for the gift exchanged will be brought to Digital Press by 4:30pm UNWRAPPED (but carefully obscured from other NAVA members) or in a gift bag/box that can be easily opened by our inspectors. All gifts will be inspected privately by Joe and/or a designated team member.
- Gifts should be NEW, unopened* and related to videogames. Please be mindful of buying specific games for specific consoles as not all people own all consoles.
- Gifts should be valued at $20 or more. 'Tis the season of giving, give large if you can, NAVA is family!
- If your gift passes the submission rules it will be placed into a sealed, numbered holiday gift bag, or wrapped if it doesn’t fit inside a bag. Gift bags & wrapping paper will be supplied for those who do not bring their own.
- Prior to the gift grab, your gift number will be quietly revealed to you so that you do not select your own gift.
- Please do not reveal your gift number to any other NAVA members who may know what gift you have submitted.
- Participants are allowed to submit ONE gift.

Unacceptable gift examples:
- Opened, used games.
- Non-game related merchandise (electronics, clothing, jewelry, with no clear/direct connection to videogames).

* Exceptions to the brand new/unopened rule have been made in the past for exceptional circumstances like a complete in box NES Action Set or an autographed ColecoVision signed by James "The Angry Videogame Nerd" Rolfe. In the event that you would like to submit an opened, used item it should be something complete, in near mint condition, highly desirable, unique (autographed merchandise, one of a kind object, rare/valuable promotional item, etc). Check with a Digital Press staff member in advance to see if your "exception" fits the spirit of the event.

- CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DISCOUNT, NOVEMBER 03-30: ALL used/refurbished items in the store are 10% off! Just show THIS announcement in your email or favorite social media site to claim the discount at the register.

- GIVEAWAY EVENT, NOVEMBER 03-26: For every $10 you spend in the store during this period, you will get a ticket entered into our end-of-the-month giveaway. There will be lots of cool and unique prizes including store displays, memorabilia and artwork, details will be posted at the store, and we'll record the drawing and announce the winning numbers during the first week of December.

- We celebrated the anniversary of NINTENDO 64 by unleashing a barrage of N64 games on our visitors, including some of the 4-player variety!
- The 6PM tournament was SUPER SMASH BROS, won by Romelo, who smashed all of the other bros, earning him a cool $20 gift certificate.
- The arcade challenge was HYDRO THUNDER 64. Our high score winner was Chris R with a best time of 1:44:39, earning the coveted $20 gift certificate.

In This Month's NAVA: It will be almost Halloween when NAVA presents itself so what better way to warm up your costume and try to win a prize?! BE IN COSTUME at 5pm when our all-star judging panel votes on the top three costumes and a special "most original" category, all for great prizes! Simply being IN COSTUME gets you 15% off of all used merchandise in the store all day long. NOTE: "IN COSTUME" means an actual costume. - We celebrated the anniversary of Super Nintendo, launched in August 1991. There was Super NES all up in this house!

- The arcade challenge was GRADIUS III. The high score winner Ken put up the high score of 18000, earning the coveted "arcade champion" $20 gift certificate.

- The 6pm tournament was TURTLES IN TIME, in "vs mode". Greg I. bashed up his opponents, earning the $20 tournament prize.

In This Month's NAVA: Happy Birthday, Nintendo 64! Though it originally launched in Japan in June of 1996, on September 29th 1996 across the USA, legions of gamers plugged a Nintendo 64 into their televisions for the first time. What were they playing? The only launch titles were Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64. In November, Wave Race 64 was released and in December, Mario Kart 64 joined the library. It was a slow start but what great games! To celebrate the occasion we will have several Nintendo 64 systems set up with lots of games to choose from. Challenge a stranger!

Arcade Challenge: To further celebrate this momentous anniversary, we're going to host the arcade game challenge on the N64 as well! Today's challenge is HYDRO THUNDER. Can you put up the best time? Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day, but please remember to let everyone get a shot. If you get the high score, move on, and no hogging the cabinet! Also if you have won last month’s arcade challenge you are not eligible to win this month’s challenge.

6PM Tournament: Here's one that just about everyone who's ever owned a Super Nintendo has played: TURTLES IN TIME. We're going to change it up a little bit, though, and play in VERSUS mode. That's the head-to-head mode, and here's a little tip for people who actually read these things: press JUMP+ATTACK to BLOCK! That isn't available in the usual beat'em up mode. Good luck! Sign-ups begin at 3pm, the tournament starts after 6pm in this first-come, first-served and as always at NAVA, FREE-to-join tournament. Winners receive a $20 gift certificate!
