NAVA Gamer's Gathering, May 27th: "The Boys of Summer"
PLEASE SEE THE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW AS SOME RULES HAVE CHANGED!
NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. This is a FREE event bringing gamers together for competition, trading, and chatter.
Previously at NAVA...
- In our last episode, we celebrated International Tabletop Day with the rest of the world and more or less unplugged the videogame systems. More or less.
- The arcade challenge was Capcom's "Quiz & Dragons". Greg tallied 133,000 points and took the $20 gift certificate for his prize.
- There was no tournament, but through the 6 o'clock hour the crash of Jenga blocks could be heard throughout all of Clifton land.
- Games and systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.
See it all in our photo gallery section at the store's website and feel free to comment!
IMPORTANT NOTE: THE EMPLOYEE AREA AT THE BACK OF THE STORE WILL BE RESTRICTED TO EMPLOYEES ONLY. WE WILL SET UP A DEDICATED TABLE FOR BEVERAGES AND SNACKS ON THE SALES FLOOR.
In This Month's NAVA: As the temperatur begins to shift, our minds wander back to the glorious summers of our youth. Driving down to the shore equipped with our trusty Game Boy. Desperately hoping the link cable wouldn't come loose during a tight head to head battle. And who could forget the hours upon hours of hot days spent indoors staring into a visor that was projecting our favorite Nintendo characters in various shades of RED? Ah, the "Boys" of Summer. That is, Game Boy and Virtual Boy.
We will have SEVEN Virtual Boy systems set up around the store, and aspirin available upon request. In addition, two Game Boys via the GameCube's Game Boy Player will occupy the center island's larger displays.
Arcade challenge! Another "Boy of Summer" - the summer of 1982 to be specific - was the less than memorable "Fly Boy" by Kaneko. In this white-knuckle thriller of a game, you hang glide your way to high scores! Be the best at the game on this one day by logging the highest score on our arcade cabinet by 9pm and win a nifty $20 gift certificate and possibly get your name added to the "House Champion" tournament plaque on the Wall of Fame just above the arcade section of the store. Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day, but please remember to let everyone get a shot. If you get the high score, move on, and no hogging the cabinet! Also if you have won last month’s arcade challenge you are no eligible to win this month’s challenge.
Tournament! We will have two Game Boy Advances LINKED through the Game Boy Player. We will most likely run a four player Mario Kart Super Circuit tournament at 6pm, though the game may be head to head 2 player or we may switch it up entirely and choose a different game. You have to stay on your toes to be a NAVA warrior! Sign-ups begin at 3pm, the tournament starts around 6pm and its first-come, first-served in this FREE-to-join tournament.
Remember to get your trade boxes in order so we can all buy, sell and trade together. Wear your NAVA or Digital Press t-shirt for the maximum discount on store purchases. Also, bring your Nintendo 3DS to share street passes... it's NAVA time!
