NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. This is a FREE event bringing gamers together for competition, trading, & chatter.
Previously at NAVA...
- In our last episode we had a scary good time with our annual October Cosplay event.
- Everyone was all dressed up & ready to scare up some fun with games like Darkstalkers, Splatter House, & Castlevania.
-The winners of the costume contest we’re Paul S. as Zero in third, James P. as Bob Ross in second, & Tim M. & Victoria M. won first place as Cloud Strife & Tifa Lock Hart & took home the $50 gift certificate.
-We also held our annual Darkstalkers tournament, or should I say Vampire Hunters since this year we played the Japanese Sega Saturn port, & Aristotle was our champion!
- The arcade challenge was Haunted Castle & Aristotle also won that with 49,200 points, & walked away with a $20 gift certificate as their prize.
- Games & systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.

This Month's NAVA: September marked Digital Press’ 25th anniversary but we were all too busy pretending to be witches & wizards then so we decided to celebrate it this month! But wait, we hear what you’re saying; “Didn’t Digital Press Videogames only just celebrate its 10th anniversary last year?” & yes you are correct attentive follower. Digital Press Videogames the STORE celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, but Digital Press has been around much longer than that; starting as a fanzine in 1991 & leading to things like book publications, conventions, & beyond! We’ll be celebrating with Ms. Space Fury, NES Remix on the WiiU, & of course plenty of games on the Atari 2600.
Arcade challenge! The first game mentioned in the first ever Digital Press fanzine was technically Pong but the second title mentioned was Baseball Stars Professional for the Neo Geo & that will be our arcade challenge this month. Be the best at the game on this one day by logging the highest score on our arcade cabinet by 9pm & win a nifty $20 gift certificate & possibly get your name added to the "House Champion" tournament plaque on the Wall of Fame just above the arcade section of the store. Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day, but please remember to let everyone get a shot. If you get the high score, move on, & no hogging the cabinet! Also if you have won last month’s NAVA arcade challenge you are no eligible to win this month’s challenge.
Tournament! So I mentioned earlier how the first game mentioned in a Digital Press fanzine was Pong, well that’s our tournament this month. We’re going to make a real event out of it too. 64 Player limit, double elimination, & medals for first, second & third place! Sign-ups begin at 3pm, the tournament starts around 6pm & its first-come, first-served in this FREE-to-join tournament.
Keep in mind from now on trade boxes cannot take up more than 5 square feet. To clarify 5 square feet is an area that is 5 feet by 1 foot, 2 & a half feet by 2 feet, or any other way that takes up that much space. Trade boxes can be more than one box; they just need to fit in that much space. We will make exceptions for those who bring art or homebrews. If you bring something you made yourself we will not prevent you from putting out both that & an appropriately sized trade box. We will also make exceptions if you have items that themselves are large, like boxed systems or special editions to certain games. If you brought a CIB Steel Battalion we’re not going to make you pack up half of your other items in your trade box. We will ask you to pack up some things if you bring a lot of large items. We cannot have such large trade boxes anymore because it’s a fire hazard.
Remember to get your trade boxes in order so we can all buy, sell & trade together. Wear your NAVA or Digital Press t-shirt for the maximum discount on store purchases. Also, bring your Nintendo 3DS to share street passes... it's NAVA time!
