NAVA Gamer's Gathering, June 25th: NotEnoughGames Expo 2016

NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. This is a FREE event bringing gamers together for competition, trading, & chatter.

Previously at NAVA...
- In our last episode we commemorated the missing mascots that are gone but not forgotten like Earthworm Jim, Bubsy the Bob Cat, & Sparkster the Rocket Knight.
- Frank “The Tank” beat Ninja Gaiden on the Play Choice 10 machine with only $1.50 in quarters & still had time left over.
- Our tournament was Clay Fighters: Sculptor’s Cut for the Nintendo 64 & Paul Solo won.
- The arcade challenge was KiKi KaiKai (a.k.a. Pocky & Rocky) & Aristotle won with 118,950 points, & would have walked away with a $20 gift certificate as his prize if he was there to claim it.
- Games & systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.

See it all in our photo gallery section at the store's website & feel free to comment!

This Month's NAVA: NAVA veterans may recall that every June the event TooManyGames falls on the same weekend as NAVA. Which draws a lot of our usual NAVA guests out to the Philadelphia area for a weekend of videogaming, music concerts, panels, & all around debauchery. Well this year we decided to roll with it & call this month’s NAVA NotEnoughGames! We’ll have our own con! With blackjack & tournaments! Now were not saying you shouldn’t go out to Philly for TooManyGames; after all TooManyGames is once a year while NAVA is every month, but for those who can’t make it out to the City of Brotherly Love we got you covered here in the Garden State.

Arcade challenge! By popular demand this month’s arcade challenge will be the “cute-em-up” Twinkle Star Sprites. A game that is more popular for its competitive Vs. mode, we wil be playing in the “Story Mode”. Be the best at the game on this one day by logging the highest score on our arcade cabinet by 9pm & win a nifty $20 gift certificate & possibly get your name added to the "House Champion" tournament plaque on the Wall of Fame just above the arcade section of the store. Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day, but please remember to let everyone get a shot. If you get the high score, move on, & no hogging the cabinet! Also if you have won last month’s NAVA arcade challenge you are no eligible to win this month’s challenge.

Tournament! This month’s NAVA tournament will be another highly demanded game, Super Smash Bros. for the N64! We will do a 64 player limit on this tournament because of the high demand, & we will have 2 stations going for the tournament to speed it along. Sign-ups begin at 3pm, the tournament starts around 6pm & its first-come, first-served in this FREE-to-join tournament.

Keep in mind from now on trade boxes cannot take up more than 5 square feet. To clarify 5 square feet is an area that is 5 feet by 1 foot, 2 & a half feet by 2 feet, or any other way that takes up that much space. Trade boxes can be more than one box; they just need to fit in that much space. We will make exceptions for those who bring art or homebrews. If you bring something you made yourself we will not prevent you from putting out both that & an appropriately sized trade box. We will also make exceptions if you have items that themselves are large, like boxed systems or special editions to certain games. If you brought a CIB Steel Battalion we’re not going to make you pack up half of your other items in your trade box. We will ask you to pack up some things if you bring a lot of large items. We cannot have such large trade boxes anymore because it’s a fire hazard.

Remember to get your trade boxes in order so we can all buy, sell & trade together. Wear your NAVA or Digital Press t-shirt for the maximum discount on store purchases. Also, bring your Nintendo 3DS to share street passes... it's NAVA time!
