NAVA Gamer's Gathering, October 27th: "Zombiefied"

NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. This is a FREE event bringing gamers together for competition, trading, and chatter.

Previously at NAVA...
- In September, our first "Design Your Own NAVA Theme" became the Russian theme suggested by longtime NAVA guy Daniel Patrick Howard.
- The arcade challenge was the 1987 Data East plat-shooter Karnov. Chris A took the day's prize.
- The 6pm tournament was head-to-head Tengen Tetris. Intense!
- Games and systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.

See it all in our photo gallery section at the store's website and feel free to comment!

This month! Zombies. We're right around Halloween and expect people to come all dressed/dolled up but we have a proposition for you. Come in ANY costume and it's an automatic 10% off of any used item for sale. But come as a ZOMBIE and you'll get a whopping 25% off. If you'd already committed to a costume, add some white makeup and blood and come as a dead version of whatever you had in mind. GET ZOMBIEFIED.

Arcade challenge! The music and atmosphere of Capcom's 1985 Ghosts & Goblins (the faster, older one that starts with zombies instead of scythe-carrying ghouls) alone should be enough to get into the spirit of things, but be the best at the game on this one day by logging the highest score on our arcade cabinet by 8pm and win a nifty $20 gift certificate and possibly get your name added to the "House Champion" tournament plaque on the Wall of Fame just above the arcade section of the store. Arcade challenge games are set to FREE PLAY all day. Learn the game, then practice the game.

Tournament! You know what's better than zombies? Zombies and Samurai. A huge samurai head shooting zombies, for example. Zombie Nation for the NES features exactly this sort of gameplay and if you've never played it before, you're going to laugh. What's even funnier is that Zombie Nation will NOT be the tournament game of the night. Instead, we'll play a level of Zombies Ate My Neighbors ("Zombie Panic", SNES version) head-to-head. The high score at the end of the level goes to the next round. Though good players can easily pass this stage and find everything in five minutes, we're going to set a five minute timer on each round just in case. Sign-ups begin at 3pm and it's first-come, first-served in this free-to-join tournament.

Remember to get your trade boxes in order and wear your NAVA or 2012 Digital Press t-shirt for the maximum discount on store purchases... it's NAVA time!
