We had a much lighter turn out for Mario Kart 8 than we did for Smash last month, but it was still a good time. Lots of fun and cash prizes were had. We set up consoles at opening this time and we had people playing Mario Kart for hours before the tournament even started.
This month we escaped the heat by burrowing underground. We played such games as Mr. Driller, Dig Dug and H.E.R.O. The winner of our Mr. Driller competition, Christian, won himself a 3 day pass to Too Many Games, which at the time was on day 2
This tournament marked the return of our monthly tournaments; Friday Night Fisticuffs! We had a much larger turn out than originally anticipated; over one hundred participants! The night was long and rules had to be changed to account for the sheer mass of participants.
Many Secret Santas gathered to exchange videogaming goodies in complete secrecy for the 9th year in the shop. Also plenty of gaming, trading and chatter, as well as one of the most frenzied gift unwrapping events in our brief history.
Players from all around the tri-state area gathered to celebrate the anniversary of Donkey Kong Country this November by celebrating the entire Donkey Kong universe. Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Konga, and lots of bananas took the stage along with the usual favorites from the series.
